Positive Thinking!
I was browsing through my emails and came across this story. It is so easy to get caught up in the struggles and craziness of life that we complain and whine about the little things. Every wedding that I have done some sort of little "problem" occurs and my answer is always don't worry I'll fix or make it better. Most of the time the bride and groom don't care that the lights are too dim or the linens aren't perfect or timelines get thrown off just a bit. i wish everyday could be like the day we get married. Everything is fine and perfect just because we are with that person. The power of positive thinking is crucial to making it through this life! I hope you enjoy this story as much as I did.
Jerry is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, "If I were any better, I would be twins!" He was a unique manager because he had several waiters who had followed him around from restaurant to restaurant.
The reason the waiters followed Jerry was because of his attitude. He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, Jerry was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.
Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Jerry and asked him, I don't get it! You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?" Jerry replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to myself, Jerry, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood.
I choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life.
"Yeah, right, it's not that easy," I protested. "Yes, it is," Jerry said. "Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people will affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It's your choice how you live life."
I reflected on what Jerry said. Soon thereafter, I left the restaurant industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.
Several years later, I heard that Jerry did something you are never supposed to do in a restaurant business: he left the back door open one morning and was held up at gun point by three armed robbers. While trying to open the safe, his hand, shaking from nervousness, slipped off the combination. The robbers panicked and shot him. Luckily, Jerry was found relatively quickly and rushed to the local trauma center. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Jerry was released from the hospital with fragments of the bullets still in his body.
I saw Jerry about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied, "If I were any better, I'd be twins. Wanna see my scars?" I declined to see his wounds, but did ask him what had gone through his mind as the robbery took place. “The first thing that went through my mind was that I should have locked the back door," Jerry replied. "Then, as I lay on the floor, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or I could choose to die. I chose to live.""Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?" I asked. Jerry continued, "...the paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the ER and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read 'he's a dead man.'
I knew I needed to take action." " What did you do?" I asked. "Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me," said Jerry. "She asked if I was allergic to anything. 'Yes,' I replied. The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, 'Bullets!' Over their laughter, I told them, 'I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead.'"
Jerry lived thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully. Attitude, after all, is everything.
Positive thinking the the first step towards a happy life.
Attitude is everything
If everyone applies just these, the whole world will live in happiness.

Goodbye to the King of Pop..
Yesterday was the memorial service for one of the greatest entertainers that ever lived. Despite all of the controversy and drama surrounding Michael Jackson his legacy is still unparallelled. He contributed so much to the music industry and will continue to do so even in his death. Brooke Shields really put him in a "human" light when she talked about the times they laughed and talked. I think we forget sometimes that these celebrities are people just like us. His daughter's closing comments brought a tear to every one's eye when she said I just love him so much. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzHJyKkEOHQ
He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkjtctcuQ9Q

My Wedding Cake

I am having Amanda with Love at First Bite do the cake for my wedding. She is AWESOME! I gave her my "desired cake" in the form of 5 different cakes. She put them together perfectly the first time. I had to move the date of our wedding from October 2009 to March 2010 and she was fine to reschedule. Here is what our cake will look like:

Isaiah 40:19-31
I have had some troubling days lately. I know everything will be okay and the truth will come out. Sometimes this industry will pull down and sometimes it will lift you up. I have to remember to handle things in a respectful way and wait for things to blow over. This scripture is wonderful and I wanted to share it with everyone. It reminds me that if I stay on the right track God will fight my battles for me. Lets see what this week brings!
19The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.
20He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.
21Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?
22It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
23That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.
24Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.
25To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.
26Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.
27Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God?
28Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
29He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Your Bridesmaids Will Thank You!
I had the privilege of visiting Ashley at Bella Bridesmaid in San Marco last week. Her shop is beautiful, girly and fabulous. They offer several top designers such as: Jenny Yoo, Priscilla of Boston, Badgley Mischka, and of course, Vera Wang. Ashley is a delight and I would highly recommend scheduling an appointment if you are getting married! Tomorrow I will be going to see Glen Certain and Jaycel with Etiquette of Chocolate. Can't wait to let you know what happens!

Here We Go!!!!
I have worked for an event planning company for years and I have now opened my own. Riverside Event Design served as a great stepping stool for my career. The new adventure of owning my own company has started off wonderfully! I have had lots of positive feedback and I can't wait to start creating again. I am off to work on an upcoming event for the North Florida Junior Golf League being held at TPC Sawgrass in July. So much to do and so little time!
